We’re living in uncertain times. We’ve been thrown into the deep end of a global pandemic and whilst business isn’t as important as life, business allows us to live our lives. Having built up my own business over the last eight years or so, I’m already losing clients as things seem to fall apart across many industries. These are some business tips I’m going to try and put into place over the coming few days.
Contact Your Customers
The first is quite simple. Contact your clients or customers. Let them know what’s going on and what situation you find yourself in. Tell them you’re still working and taking on extra work should they need it at this difficult time, or perhaps that your bricks and mortar shop has closed for the time being but you’re still trading online. Now is the perfect time to send out an offer on your products to bring in some cash and reconnect with those customers on your mailing list who may have forgotten about you.

Fun With Files
How behind are you on your admin? Mine could certainly do with a couple of hours spending on it. So many of us let this pile up and whilst things are quiet, it could be the perfect opportunity to get up to date with it all. Organise your paperwork, sort out your spreadsheets and make things that little bit easier ahead of having to fill in tax returns and the like.
Build Your Business
So often it can be like a bus man’s holiday to work on your own stuff. I know, blogging for myself after blogging for clients is sometimes difficult to get my head into. If you have things to do around the office now which will help to put your business in a better position later, get them done. Paint that wall. Design your new logo. Bring your ideas to life. Figure out a way to work harder, not smarter.
Work On Your Future Marketing
Figure out how you’re going to bounce back from this. What will you do when this pandemic eventually finishes? How will you kick start your business back into operation? Come up with some amazing marketing ideas so when you can get back into the office or things settle down and clients return to you, you can restart as you mean to go on. Another thing to remember is the power of digital platforms and the essence of keeping up with the times. Many businesses have realised the value of building a strong digital presence, making it essential to adapt. The future is digital, and there is no denying its power for the business environment, particularly marketing. Incorporating this into your business strategy will help keep your business thriving even in uncertain times.

Practice Some Self Care
Maybe the most important of the business tips of the list. Don’t put yourself at the bottom of the list. Yes there will be things to do and work to get on top of. You’re likely a little worried about the state of business affairs as well as family, friends and older relatives. Be sure to give yourself some you time. Remove the stress for a bit. Do an online yoga class to unwind. Read a favourite book to take yourself to a happy place. Enjoy laying in a hot and soapy bath to relax. We must take time for us during all of this, for our own wellbeing, mental health and the ability to function properly and move forward.
In these uncertain times it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. I hope these business tips help. Please listen to government guidelines and if we work together, we’ll be out of this sooner rather than later. Connect with me over on Twitter if you want to chat or have any ideas, it’d be great to hear from you. Stay safe.
