A few weeks ago it all kicked off with an Argos 3 for 2 promotion on toys.
Some thrifty individuals had put their selections in their baskets the night before and left them there, only to wake up the next day and find the prices on those toys had changed so much, that they would be paying more for the 3 items on 3 for 2, then they would have done if they’d have bought them the day before when they were ‘normal’ price.
Flippin’ cheeky that!
The company has since apologised for this but it feels like a bit of a cop out after they were caught.
I noticed this with Tesco’s 3 for 2 on Terrys Chocolate Orange (which seem to have got even smaller!) – they were £1 each for ages. Then on 3 for 2 they were £2 each. So you pay £4 for 3 instead of £3 for 3. Because it’s ‘on offer’ with a bright coloured labelled telling us so it seems like a good deal, but in some cases like these, you’re paying more.
Make sure your 3 for 2s and buy one get one frees are actually giving you a decent offer.
