Save Money With A Fakeaway

Do you ever get that hungry feeling in your belly and an urge for a takeaway? Whilst the local Chinese takeaway and pizza shops are spot on for the taste, they’re not so good for your wallet. If you’re looking to save the cash this Friday night, or any night of the week for that matter, turn your hand to creating a fakeaway instead!

What Is A Fakeaway?

It’s exactly as it sounds. It’s a fake takeaway. You don’t have to shell out £10 per pizza when you could make it at home for much less. Maybe you buy pizzas at the shop instead if you’re no dab hand in the kitchen. Why pay someone else to put some spice in your curry when you could make it yourself and have fun throwing it all together? A fakeaway not only saves on the pennies, it’s fun too!

Cheap Chinese

Whilst we love a good Chinese in our house, there’s always the option of creating it yourself. Our Chinese fakeaway is bowls of fried rice, chicken in a lemon sauce, pork kung po, noodles, spring rolls and prawn crackers. If we were buying that amount of food at our local takeaway it would be at least £20. We could go that ourselves at home for under £10. One of the things I hate about takeaway is when they add MSG to things to enhance flavours. Whilst it might taste good at the time it always makes me thirsty for hours awards. When we make from scratch we know what’s going into our meals. Even if we were to use easy jars of sauce, we can read the list of ingredients. That’s a huge advantage of creating a fakeaway.

Perfect Pizzas

Pizza parties are great family fun but you can have even more fun by making them yourself instead of just opening the door to the deliver driver. Make a batch of dough, divide into however many people there are and get rolling. Some ‘experts’ might try their hand at spinning their bases in the air so it might be an idea to make more dough than you (k)need. Put bowls of toppings in the middle of the table and get everyone to dive in to create their own. Tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sweetcorn, pulled pork, peppers, spinach, olives, onion, and anything else you can think of. Then pop them in the oven before devouring them in front of a movie. If you get into making your own you could even buy some pizza boxes for extra authenticity. The perfect Italian fakeaway!

Go Ahead & Fake It

Whatever your favourite takeaway food, you can save money and even enjoy a better taste by making your own at home. Put all your Mexican or Indian dishes in the middle of the table for everyone to share. Make your own brilliant burgers, craft your perfect kebab, take vegan food to the next level, feast on fantastic fish and chips and sup up your sushi. This is the perfect opportunity to fake it and probably the only time I’ll ever tell you to do so. The next time you fancy a takeaway, make your own fakeaway! Let me know your favourite fakeaway over on Twitter.
