Explore The World From Your Home

We’re all in the same situation, if you’re sticking to the guidance that is. Not being allowed out can be a drain on your health. Your energy can dip, you can find yourself bored looking into the fridge and your mental well-being can easily suffer. With so many of us trying to home school our kids at this time too, there are some amazing ways to explore the world from the comfort of your home.

Go To The Zoo

Is there anything better than seeing real life amazing animals? We love the zoo and often visit as a family. It’s something our boys have told us they’re missing. The ability to see so many amazing animals on a day out is one we perhaps take for granted but there are ways to visit online too. Many zoos and wildlife parks from all over the world have live streams set up so you can check in on some animals. Have a look at what the penguins are doing this morning. Enjoy seeing the elephants feeding or the monkeys, well, monkeying around. From San Diego to Melbourne, maybe zoos are getting involved, as well as Chester Zoo right here in the UK.

Global Wonders

Take a look at some of the wonders of our amazing world on your laptop. Explore the world and take in amazing sights such as The Grand Canyon. Visit the incredible Machu Picchu. Head to Yellowstone or Yosemite. All without exhausting your legs! You can even see the insides of Buckingham Palace, The Vatican and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Planet Earth is also available on BBC iPlayer! As well as some much needed escapism from the same four walls for everyone, this could be ideal for home schooling. Give the kids a mini project all about one of the places they can see on their screen. Not only extremely entertaining but hugely educational too!

Go Swimming

Whilst we’re not allowed to go to swimming pools or visit beaches, you can still go swimming. What’s more, you can swim with dolphins or even sharks! National Geographic have some 360 degree videos on their YouTube channel which will blow the minds of your youngsters! See something completely different this week! Safely see some sharks, sounds good to us!

Theme Parks

Maybe you had amazing holiday planned? The likelihood is that it’s been cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation. You can still explore Disneyland though. There are virtual trips available online so you and the kids can explore the world of Disney theme parks! Why not do it as a family and challenge yourselves to fins all your favourite Disney characters? There are also YouTube videos available where you can ‘ride’ the popular rollercoasters.

Culture Amidst The Chaos

Some theatre production companies are streaming full version of their plays on YouTube and Facebook. From The National Theatre to ballet from The Royal Opera House. Many West End shows who have had to stop public performances have put their shows online for you to watch. You can even find yourself on the stage at a Broadway musical!

The advice is to stay at home but that doesn’t mean you can’t see some of the world from the comfort of your sofa. Stay safe and explore the world!
