Dating At A Distance

This is a paid collaboration.

The world has changed and with that the dating game has changed. Maybe you met someone just before the pandemic began and you’ve only been able to connect with them online for the last few months? Perhaps you signed up to a dating app during the lockdown period and found someone you’d love to meet in real life. How can we continue to date in a world where staying away from one another is a must? Whilst it might not be what we are used to, it is still possible. Follow some of these tips and tricks and you’ll be able to enjoy dating at a distance.

Different Tables

If you live in Dinas Powys or Morganstown and met someone you really connected with on a Cardiff dating site for example, you might want to see what they’re like when you’re not speaking through a screen. With restaurants and cafes open for business, whilst you can’t sit together, you can sit on separate tables to ensure there is the recommended 2 metre distance. This allows you to enjoy a coffee and a conversation together but not together. Of course, you can still be a lovely person and pick up the bill for the both of you. If this is something you would usually do on a date, just because you’re sat at different tables, it shouldn’t stop you.

A Romantic Walk

There is freedom and space in local parks and walks down by the river. If your local community has plenty of open space, there is nothing stopping you from organising a walk with a date. Keep your distance, speak a little louder and there’s not that much difference! Of course you won’t be able to accidentally touch hands which turns into holding hands which turns into kissing, but you can still connect away from the screen. Maybe you can enjoy a bike ride together too? Think outside the box a little bit. You can still get to know somebody without being physically connected.

Embrace Technology

If you’ve met someone via the Cardiff dating site we mentioned earlier, you’re already using technology for dating. Technology can help us connect on many different levels. From using together-when-not-together features like watch parties on Netflix to sexting, a relationship can indeed develop with the help over technology. Embrace this and you really can get to know this new person in your life.

Send Flowers

Whilst we might give gifts or treats to one another on dates, you can still let someone you like know you like them. Simply ask for their address and send them a bouquet of flowers from a local florist. Not only can this be a lovely romantic gesture, it can also help pick someone up if they’re feeling down in this current global situation.

There are many ways to connect with people and develop relationship even when we can’t be right next to each other. Don’t let the current worldwide pandemic put you off trying to find someone to spend your life with. If anything, it’s shown us just how short life can be and how much we should life, right now!
