Autumn is fast approaching and it’s one of my favourite months. It’s the time to get warm and cosy, pop on big jumpers, enjoy family walks through crunchy leaves and spend evenings with blankets over your knees. Whether you’re doing some work, figuring out what colour to paint the dining room, planning for Christmas or watching a movie, Autumn and wine are the perfect combination. Let’s have a look at a couple of the best bottles which are perfect for this season.
Remember Summer
The first bottle helps us remember the Summer months that have just been and gone. The ones we enjoyed and made memories with. The Malvirà Treuve 2015 is a delicious white, perfect for that transition period between Summer and Autumn. It’s refreshing, with three of the most prized grapes of Northern Italy: Chardonnay, Arneis & Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a 12.5% bottle with the contents pale yellow in colour. When poured, you’ll noticed aromas of pineapple, honey, hazelnut and lush lemon. The medium alcohol content and high acidity of this dry wine make for a pleasant finish. The perfect bottle for the changing seasons.
Embrace The New Season
As Autumn kicks in, it’s nice to have a bottle to drink as the leaves begin to turn orange and fall to the ground. The Pinot Noir Rolhüt 2018 from Peter Zemmer is ideal for this. From a vineyard located 450 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Alps, this award winning bottle is beautiful. It’s an elegant bottle for the Autumn, with aromas of raspberries and dried cranberry. You’ll also pick up notes of blueberry muffin and red cherry.This 13.5% bottle is a developing wine. Meaning you can enjoy it this Autumn or keep it in your cellar for next Autumn, or perhaps even the one after that!
The Wine You Want
Autumn means darker nights, drawing the curtains earlier and creating mood in your front room with fairy lights and flickering candles. The clocks will soon ‘fall back’ and Halloween will be here before we know it. Closely followed by Bonfire Night. Be sure to get a couple of amazing bottles of wine in to enjoy around the camp fire in your own back garden. There’s something quite magical about an open fire, crackling logs, marshmallows on sticks and cups of wonderful red wine.
