Christmas is a wonderful holiday to spend together as a family but it can also bring a whole host of unwanted financial pressure too. In this article I’m going to show you how you could be saving money for Christmas weekly.
Relieve that pressure of trying to afford everything in December and the knock on effect of being short for the January bills, by saving weekly for Christmas.

We’ve been doing this for two years now and it makes everything so much easier. We’ve opened a separate savings account and set up an automatic transfer of £10 a week. That’s about £500 saved up throughout the year.
We never spend the entire amount at Christmas, so there is some that rolls over into January for those pesky bills that creep up on you. Of course, it can just stay in the fun to use next year.
We’ve done £10 a week for the last 2 years but I think we can probably drop that to £8 a week next year. I’d still see it as £10 a week and pop that extra£2 somewhere else, it’s our regular savings or something.
You can also dip into the Christmas fund if you buy anything festive orientated during the year. Christmas gifts on offer, decorations on sale, wrapping paper. This means you know the fund is being used for what it should be. It’s about having a fund there for Christmas purchases, without taking money away from utility bills and such.

We also use ours for our charitable giving at Christmas. We make hampers for those in need and the money we spend on the contents of said hampers comes out of the fund.
A little bit of planning and some cash dripping out of your account every week that you probably won’t even realise or miss, helps keep some Christmas joy and steer clear of debt! You ‘ll be saving money for Christmas weekly, in style!
