5 Screen Free Activities for Kids

Children can feel devoted to using their phones, tablets or watching TV all of the time that their learning experiences can become blurred. It’s important to have moments away from the screen to help them with their practical and academic ways of learning. Here are 5 screen free activities you can try with your children today.

1. Cycling

Heading out on your bikes, or teaching your child to cycle, will give them a lot more confidence when it comes to playing outside and enjoying themselves. Cycling is also a good way to head out together as a family to discover something new, or find something different about your local area.

2. Collaging

Making collages in sketchbooks and art books can help children visualise all sorts of things. From a future holiday (or one that has passed) to a sport they love and appreciate, their favourite foods and much more.

3. Painting

Another art project you could get your child involved in is painting. This is a very fluid area your child can get immersed in as there are so many different types of paint and art forms. It’s a great way to help your child manage their mental health as well, as it’s a great way of teaching a child how to unwind.

4. Water play

If your child is still at the age where different materials and forms will interest them, water play is a good way of helping them learn about the different states of water and how it can benefit them. A paddling pool, using water guns or heading to the swimming pool are all good ways of trying out water play.

5. Geocaching

Something that involves walking/hiking and treasure hunting is geocaching. Your child will also have to learn how to navigate a map and help with directions – a great learning activity that doesn’t require any phones or other devices to make things fun.
