With springtime just around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about a spring clean. With the shops starting to create spring cleaning displays and put special offers on appropriate products, the home probably needs a decent once over, but so does the rest of your life.

Home
Everyone loves a clean and tidy home, right? You can’t beat having a place for everything and everything in its place. Check what supplies you have in the cupboard under the sink and if you need, get along to the shops. There are loads of great products out there these days and they don’t all contain nasties. Eco cleaning is on the rise and there are great products out there for you to try out on your work surfaces. Have a proper clean and tidy of everything.
Wipe those kitchen worktops, pull out the contents of the cupboards, mop the floors. Give the vacuum cleaner a good run around. Do it twice over two days to make sure everything is deep cleaned. That bathroom probably needs a spring clean too so scrub the tiles, wipe the shower screens, pour some unblocker down the plug holes. Make everything sparkle and shine in your home.
Head outside and give the car a good clean, on both the inside and the outside. You could even wash the house windows, power spray the drive, start clearing up the garden if weather allows. Clean and deodorise your rubbish and recycling bins. Give your outdoor toys a good scrub and tidy as the kids probably have their eyes on getting outdoors.
Have a good clear out as well as a clean. Out with the old stuff that you haven’t used, that doesn’t bring you any happiness, that’s just collecting dust. Take your bags to the charity shops and be sure to pop by the tip with anything that needs to be chucked too. Organise the loft as well.

Finances
The start of spring is the perfect time to freshen up your finances. Take a look at what’s coming out of your account every month through direct debits and standing orders. Get that gym membership that you never use cancelled! Check your savings account and try to add to it. Consider moving your current account, there are some great incentives kicking around at the moment like £175 to switch!
Switch utility companies to save money, double check you’re getting the best deals for your mobile phone bill and other things you shell out for every month. Switch your supermarket to one of the budget ones like Aldi or Lidl and save a good whack of cash every week. Are you on the best mortgage rate? Look at every aspect of your finances and have a good spring clean.

Friendships
This one may or may not be on your list. Do you have toxic relationships which need to be ditched? I know I did this at the end of last year, to start the new year a fresh. Friendships which make you unhappy aren’t real friendships. Friends who are only there during the good times and don’t support you through the bad times are fair weather.
I read a quote which said “I’m not ignoring you, I’m just waiting to see if you make the effort.” Friendships are give and take and should be 50/50 from both parties. When you find yourself being put down, feeling upset and maybe even finding out you’re being talk about behind your back, it’s time to cut people out for the sake of your life going forward and your mental health right now. Plan some trips and exciting events with those friends you love, trust and value. Get some memory making things planned in, from gigs to road-trips. Spring clean your friendships to move forward and enjoy happiness.
I’d love to know how you spring clean your life. Let me know all about your spring cleaning ideas over on Instagram.
