Amazing Gestures Of Goodwill

We’re all feeling it at the moment. We’ve been in this ‘new normal’ for a little bit now and I bet, like me, you’re wishing that when the clocks went forward at the weekend, they’d gone forward a couple of months. There are so many things to be grateful for though and one of those is the many, many companies who have, as gestures of goodwill, taken the price out of their services for the time being. Let’s run through some of those incredible acts and see just what you can access for free, whilst stuck at home.

Meditation Apps

Maybe you need a little bit of you time during all the chaos of Covid-19? Now you can, for free. Calm & Headspace have made some meditation content free to use. Available on websites and apps, you can access them at your will and use whenever you wish. These are perfect for those who suffer from stress, anxiety and depression, but also for anyone else who just needs five or ten minutes to unwind and recompose.

Online Workouts

If you haven’t heard about PE With Joe, you’re missing out. Kickstart every weekday with the UK’s new PE teacher and get the kids burning off some of that energy. You don’t have to do it live, nor do you have to have kids. The Body Coach’s usual subscription prices are almost £100 for 90 days, so you’re saving a great deal here.

I’ve mentioned on a different blog post that Davina McCall has also unlocked the access to her online fitness content Own Your Goals, so you can use it for free. One of the massive bonuses of this compared to other trials, is that you don’t have to input any credit card details and remember when to cancel. It’s simply free, a great gesture from Davina. Chris Hemsworth, yes, Thor himself, has also made access to his online workout resources Centr free for six weeks. Stay at home and get in shape!

Spectacular Storybooks

Sometimes it’s great to be read a story and Audible have made a selection of audiobooks for children available for free. These range from Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland to The Secret Garden and are fantastic escapism from the world around us at the moment. Audible say that they’ll be available for however long schools are closed. Even better now the libraries have closed! What better time for your children to enjoy a range of fabulous fiction?

Learn A New Skill

If you have time on your hands, why not learn a new skill? Rosetta Stone is giving free access to it’s language courses. With over 20 languages to choose from, expand your skillset for free. It usually costs £50 for 3 months! Musical instrument company Fender has also made their online guitar lessons free for three months. You can choose from acoustic, electric, bass or ukelele and it’s usually a £10 a month fee.

School Resources

Carol Vorderman has opened up access to her Maths resources, for free. The Maths Factor is for 4-11 year olds and is usually £2 a week. As it’s matched to the national curriculum, it’s the perfect way to keep your kids up to speed with maths whilst they’re not in school. Award winning spelling app Sir Linkalot is also free until June. Simply sign up to their mailing list and you’ll be sent a code. It’s usually £6.99 a month. You can also currently access Kano Club for free, which is usually $40 for the year.

TV Time

Sometimes you need half an hour whilst the children watch the TV or maybe you want to unwind infront of something on an evening. Amazon Prime Video have made a range of children’s content available for free, so you have enjoy a hot cup of tea whilst they watch the googlebox. BBC iPlayer have also added some classic boxsets including Spooks and Waking The Dead, as well as some movies, so you don’t have to shell out for Sky Cinema. Take a look at the dedicate post about taking advantage of free entertainment trials over the next few months.

Gestures Of Goodwill

There are loads of other companies providing amazing gestures of goodwill to the people of the nation, as we all find ourselves in a strange situation. Maybe, as well as enjoying the freebies being offered, you can come up with some of your own gestures of goodwill to help other folk out. That could be donating to foodbank, supporting your community or doing something close to your heart.
