It feels like the schools holidays have only just started, yet the whole going back to school process has already begun. Have you seen the adverts on the TV yet? Whatever you’ve got lined up for the summer, from camping holidays to days at the coast, you need to pencil in some time for getting ready for September. It’ll be here before we know it. Let’s look at everything you need to consider as you are getting ready for back to school as well as how to buy school shoes online.
Buy School Shoes
I put a lot of time and effort into getting the right school shoes for my three children. With two of them advancing through school and the youngest starting preschool, they are out of the house and in the education environment for quite a lot of hours every week. Making sure they are comfortable and warm is one of my main concerns. One of our kids has sensory problems with socks and shoes not feeling right and we occasionally have to go through the process of putting on and taking off items a few times to get it just right. Price is also another factor which is why I often buy school shoes online because you can find good deals.
As children grow so quickly, I wanted shoes that fit now but will also last. Hard-wearing but with room to grow through the school year. So often previously, we have had to buy shoes twice a year. When we came across Start-Rite you can tell the shoes are quality and will keep up with the three active individuals we are bringing up. I love the fact that you can get a Start-Rite measuring gauge which helps determine the actual size of your child’s feet. Not just a basic size, but taking into account the length and breadth of the foot. From there, you can buy school shoes online knowing what size you are looking for.
Kids are all unique. With different interests and personalities. We try and offer our children a choice and Start-Rite make this easier with a whole range of shoes in appropriate sizes. The children can express themselves via their footwear, which is brilliant. Our children picked the Rumble and Rocket shoes, which are dinosaur and space inspired, whilst still looking like proper school shoes. They have riptape rather than laces which is much easier for our junior school-aged children independently putting them on and taking them off.
I am confident that their shoes will stand up to the football matches at playtime whilst also providing comfort and warmth in the classroom. As the kids are happy wearing them, that’s a huge bonus!

Check The Uniform
Getting ready for the kids to go back to school includes checking all the uniforms. Some trousers may have holes in the knees and jumpers could have raggedy sleeves. Maybe some t-shirts have paint on from all that paint-flicking artwork the kids have been doing this term. Go through the drawers of uniforms they have, get rid of anything that has seen better days and pass down any items that no longer fit. Then it’s a case of buying some more garments. If you’re buying generic ones from the supermarkets, be sure to be in advance. They often sell out of specific sizes.
Bags & School Clubs
Kids carry a lot of stuff to and from school. From books and PE kits, to lunchboxes and water bottles. Is it time for a new bag? Maybe the old one needs a spin in the washing machine or a clear-out. There are lots of school clubs that the kids might be interested in. Including before and after school clubs if you have to work. You’ll need to book onto these to make sure you do that in plenty of time. Maybe the kids have been waiting all year for the netball club to start again? Perhaps they can’t wait for that after-school science club to be back on? One of our children has guitar lessons once a week so it’s important to remember the sheet music. Have a look at the school website to see if there is any information there so you can plan ahead.

Mentally Prepare
It’s important to mentally prepare for returning to school. Stepping up another year means a new teacher, harder work and more expectations. Remember though, childhood is only short and there is lots of fun to be had at school. On top of learning for exams. If your children are worried about going back to school after the long summer, utilise the likes of meditation, reading and listening to music for relaxation. A decent breakfast on that first morning will set them up for the day too. It can also be hard on parents to see their little ones growing up and progressing into a new school year. So make sure you can enjoy a cup of tea after dropping them off on the first day back.
A little bit of planning and preparation over the summer months can make the return to school that much easier. Order what you need and buy school shoes online to get a jump on the new academic year.
