To do this, you can make several health-related changes to keep yourself fit and healthy and be that superhero dad your kids know you are.
Reconsider Your “Bad” Habits
The first thing you need to do is reconsider and change your “bad” habits. Whether this be eating too much sugar, smoking, drinking, or something similar, these things only do more and more damage as we grow older.
If quitting smoking, for example, is too difficult, switch to healthier vape options like SMOK. This also applies to every other habit; if you can’t or don’t want to quit completely, research healthier alternatives.
Book a Medical
Once you turn 40, you should be going for regular, yearly medicals. A medical is a perfect time to not only get a better grasp on your health, but it also helps you spot any warning signs for problems associated with older men, such as prostate cancer.
There are also a lot of conditions you just won’t notice without a medical, such as high cholesterol, diabetes, etc.

Find a Physical Hobby You Enjoy
If you work a full-time job, help out at home, and spend a lot of time with your family, it can be challenging to remain physically active. Exercise is one of the best ways to keep yourself feeling young, and therefore should be a priority.
Whether going to the gym, cycling, or joining a tennis club, find a physical hobby you enjoy and can do regularly to keep your body moving and remain active.

Stress is another big issue that needs to be handled and dealt with effectively. It can impact both your physical and mental health, and this damage is completely avoidable if you know what to do.
You can write in a journal, do breathing exercises, do yoga, or simply go for a walk. Find something that helps you alleviate your stress in an effective and consistent manner. You may not completely solve your stress problem immediately, but as you get better at handling it, you will get better at moving past it.
Adjust Your Diet
Maintaining a healthy weight becomes more and more difficult as we age and as we gain more responsibility, such as being a parent. Because of this, it is crucial to have a healthy diet that you can stick to.
While there is a no need to go full “gym bro” and just eat boiled chicken and vegetables, you should limit your junk food intake, increase your fibre, protein, and healthy fats, and also drink enough water every day.
Preventative Healthcare
While a medical can be used to diagnose and stop serious conditions, you should still be practising preventative healthcare. Many men tend to dismiss small problems as “just a muscle tweak” or “just a cold”; this can be a mistake.
While you don’t need to become overly paranoid, it is important to deal with recurring or long-term problems effectively. “Walking it off” only applies to stubbing your toe, not to something that can damage your body in the long term.

Have “Me Time”
“Me time” can be difficult if you are a parent, but it is something that both you and your partner should do. This practice is important as it allows you to disconnect from your everyday life, and instead, you can take a couple of hours to do something by yourself, for yourself.
You can do this once a week or a couple of times a month, but having the chance to reset is vital for good mental health. You can take a walk, put a few hours into one of your hobbies, or go out with friends. Whatever it may be, ensure that it is something for you.
Connect with Other Dads
Finally, you can never go wrong with connecting with other dads. Having a support system of people who are living similar lives and having similar problems will not only help you find ways to improve yourself but also improve your parenting.
This is something that applies to your partner, too, as there will be multiple occasions when you may feel like you are doing a bad job as a dad, but talking to other fathers will let you see that what you are going through may just be part of the process, and not necessarily something you are doing wrong.
