Both small and large businesses have begun to roll out working from home policies, whether this be fully remote or hybrid due to the increased benefits provided for both the employees and employers. It can however be difficult to focus at home, as you do not have the routine and structure that an office environment can bring you. Here are our following tips to ensure that you are as productive as possible whilst working away from the office.
How to keep productivity levels up
Let your family or flatmates know that you need some peace – Distractions are everywhere in our modern day world and it can be difficult to settle down and find some quiet time to do some work. Expressing your concerns to the people you live with will not only give you some space, but also reassure them that it is not personal and you just need to get on with stuff!
Leave your devices outside of the home office room – Similar to our first point, every time your phone buzzes or a notification pops up this opens a gateway to getting stuck into social media and half an hour can easily pass before you realise what you are doing. It can be difficult to get back on track and it makes your time so much less productive. Try to leave your phone or tablet in a completely different room so you are not tempted to check it.

Get dressed as if you were going to the office – It is good to get up each morning and have a shower and get dressed as if you are going to work. Why not purchase some new work clothes – such as some cropper trousers which is perfect for summer working from home jobs.
Keep your regular working hours –Having regular work hours can increase your productivity as you are in a routine and know exactly what you should be doing at certain times. Find times in the day that you feel most alert to do some “deep work” – and leave any tasks that require a lot of concentration and attention for these periods.
Keep the workspace tidy – Working from home means that you will have to keep your own space tidy, and this is something that can often be overlooked. Not only can it make finding things that you need easier, which cuts down on time being wasted, but it can also help you stay more organised, focused and productive. Why not purchase a house plant to live in your home office, as this can help improve air quality and give the room a more natural feel.
