Let’s have a look at how you can make cashback every time you shop!

Click Via A Cashback Site

Cashback sites can be a fantastic way of earning some extra money. There are two popular cashback sites that people use when they shop online and they are Quidco and Top Cashback. If you haven’t signed up, do it now. Some users prefer one to another. Personally, I have earned over £4000 as a Quidco member.

When you shop online, rather than going directly to the retailer, go to your preferred cashback site and do a quick search. If the retailer you are wanting to buy from appears, you’ll see how much cashback you can earn when you shop with them. This could be up to 11% with Argos, 13% at AO or 15% at Bloom & Wild. When you then click through, your journey tracks and you’ll earn cashback on your purchase. This can also work with some retailers who offer click and collect, so it isn’t solely online retailers.

Every little bit of cashback helps, even the 1% when you shop at eBay. My best cashback rates have come from swapping services or taking out products from companies. I got £100 when I joined NOW Broadband, £68 when I joined the AA for breakdown and £75 when I took out an insurance policy. I even got £231 cashback when I opened a new Stocks & Shares ISA, simply by clicking via a cashback site.

What will you do with the money when you make cashback? You could keep it in an account for a rainy day or use it to save towards something specific. Of course, right now it’s probably going to help you pay your bills.

Use Cashback Apps

Another great way to make cashback is by downloading cashback apps. Those cashback sites we’ve mentioned have app versions and you can click via them on the go or shopping via your phone. However, there are plenty of other apps where you can make cashback too.

CheckoutSmart gives you the opportunity to earn cashback when you buy certain products from shops. These are usually supermarkets and you might find brands you recognise as well as some you don’t. You’ll often discover offers that, after cashback, make the product free! At the time of writing this, you can get a free packet of Peperami chicken bites as you get 100% cashback! Other offers include £1 cashback when you buy a £2 bottle of Robinsons cordial. There are often better than half-price offers too, so the cashback you earn is more than half the price of the product, giving you a great product for a fantastic price. You usually claim the cashback by snapping a photograph of your receipt and selecting what offer you ought, all within the app. So be sure to grab a receipt at the till!

There are other apps along the same lines as CheckoutSmart. ClickSnap has similar offers whilst Shopmium and GreenJinn both give you lots of opportunities to make cashback. Join Shopmium with my code KFMKKEFK and you’ll get a free can of Pringles!

JamDoughnut is another great cashback app. Rather than checking out your purchase with your payment card, see if the retailer is on the JamDoughnut app. If they are, you can buy a gift card for the retailer instead, and then use that to pay for your purchase. You get between 3% and 20% cashback when you buy a gift card this way.

Be sure you check if the retailer allows gift cards to be spent online if you are shopping that way. Also, make sure to use your gift cards straight away otherwise if the company goes bust, you won’t be able to use the gift card and will have wasted your money. You’ll earn points within the app and once you get 1000 of them you can withdraw £10. Sign up with the code XEA5 today to get 100 bonus points (£1). You’ll also get 500 points (£5) when you buy your first gift card.

Connect your bank card to Airtime Rewards and when you shop at certain retailers using that card, you’ll earn a percentage of what you spend as cashback. Retailers on there include Wilko, Boots and even Greggs. Yes, make cashback whilst you chomp on a chicken bake! Use my code CNL4KN6G when signing up for a bonus!

Pay With A Cashback Card

Some banks have cards that will allow you to earn cashback as you use them. For example, Chase has been giving users 1% cashback on eligible purchases for 12 months. I’ve only just started using this and have earned £10 so far.

Be sure to check your online banking platform. I know that Santander has some retailer offers that you can activate and you’ll be able to make cashback when you shop with certain retailers using your card. It could be 10% or 15%, which tracks automatically and lands in your account at the end of each month. Other banks have reward schemes too so check with whoever you have an account with. Don’t forget that some banks have fees involved for certain accounts. That fee might not cover the cashback you make. Always check what you’re signing up for!

There are lots of credit cards that will give you cashback on purchases too. I spotted one advertised that will give you 5% back on purchases for the first 3 months. If you have big purchases coming up, it might be worth applying for one. Of course, you might not be accepted for a credit card. You should always make sure you pay it off in full every month. Many people don’t like credit cards but if you pay them off in full before being charged and take advantage of the offers, they can be great. They also offer Section 75 protection which can be invaluable!

Do More Than One!

We’ve covered a good few ways to make cashback. However, it gets even better when you combine these with one another. For example, you could activate a retailer offer on Santander, then click via Quidco to the retailer and make your purchase with your Santander card. You’ll make cashback twice, firstly via Quidco and secondly via the retailer offer for using your bank card. Another example would be to use your cashback card when buying a product you’ve seen available for free (after cashback) on CheckoutSmart. You’ll pay for the product and scan the receipt to earn 100% cashback. However, you will also have made 1% cashback on the purchase for using your card.

There are so many ways to make cashback when you shop. Whilst we are watching the pennies and trying not to spend as many pounds, we all have things to buy. If you can make cashback when you buy the things you need, that’s a huge bonus. It will help improve your personal finances as well.
