How To Relax At Christmas

So, you want to relax at Christmas?

Christmas time is so often a stressful season. Getting everything prepared, bought and wrapped for loved ones so the perfect Christmas Day can occur. It really doesn’t need to have stress associated with it though. You should be able to enjoy the build up to Christmas, not only finding time to relax in front of the Queen’s speech. Let’s have a look at how to relax at Christmas.

Planning & Preparedness

With a little bit of planning and preparedness, you can enjoy the festive season more than you have done over the previous years. One of the key things is to not leave everything until the last minute. Make yourself a list of things you need to do as far back as when the kids return to school in September. By knowing what you need to do and giving yourself plenty of time to do it, stress flies out the window. Do a little bit more often and you’ll get everything done. If you leave things and run out of time with a list of unticked to-dos in your hand, you’ll get yourself wound up and stressed out.

Self Care

Whilst Christmas is about family time, you also need to find time for yourself. Even if it’s just 15 minutes for a bath, that’s essential you time where you can recharge and refocus. Relaxation is so important for our minds and bodies and we must sometimes put ourselves first. If that comes at the cost of the sprouts not having bacon on them this year, so be it! Make sure you relax at Christmas time.

Family Time

Christmas is so often pushed as a time where we must buy loads of things and spend lots of money. The fact is that the festive season is actually all about family. Spending time together is free and those are the moments you’ll remember. Not some throwaway gift you’ve forked out a small fortune for which is forgotten about by Boxing Day. Family is forever and making those memories is important. Don’t worry about expensive gifts under the tree, it’s who’s around it that matters.

Be Comfortable

Comfort is key during the festive season. Whilst ugly Christmas jumpers are on trend, they are so often itchy and annoying. Find something you can enjoy the entire Christmas Day in. Whether you’re going to church, visit friends, cooking for the family or simply relaxing in front of some box sets, what you wear will affect your mood. Relax in a cosy dress, a shirt that doesn’t get you overly hot and bothered in the kitchen or a mens tracksuit set which will ensure pure Christmas comfort.

Seasonal Music

Background music can help add the right or wrong atmosphere to your home. Seasonal music from Spotify is ideal to help you relax at Christmas. Set up a playlist of your favourites and it’ll create the perfect conditions for you to relax in. Relaxing Christmas music helps you to enjoy the build up to Christmas Day as well as the day itself.

Don’t let stress ruin your festive season. Be comfortable, enjoy relaxing with the family around a festive film and make awesome memories. Christmas might only come once a year but it’s one day that doesn’t need hassle or burden. Find your own ways to relax at Christmas and share them with me over on Twitter.
