The ’round’ pound coin will no longer be legal tender from this Sunday (15th October 2017). Now is the time to check those piggy banks, old jeans and down the back of the sofa for any if you want to spend them.
Some are more valuable than others and you never know what an old coin could be worth a few years down the line. So make sure yours isn’t worth more than a quid before you spend it on sweets!
Fun fact – did you know that the new 12 sided pound coin is made of two metals – the outer ring is gold coloured and nickel-brass and the inner ring is silver and nickel-plated alloy.
