Sell Broken Items

Do you have things round the house that have seen better days? Items you’re likely to chuck in the bin should you have space one fortnight? Maybe you’ll take them to the tip next time you’re passing? Before you do that, why don’t you see if they will sell? I’ve made some extra cash by selling items that are broken. How do you sell broken items and why do people buy them? Let’s have a look.

What Broken Items To Sell

With free places to sell items such as Facebook Marketplace, there really is nothing to lose by trying to sell your broken things. Ebay even has free listing weekends so you can take advantage of those too. Try anything you have that is broken that you don’t want anymore. Anything that would alternatively be heading to landfill. I’ve sold a broken vacuum cleaner before.

As well I’ve sold broken TVs and as I type this I have a broken camera (that I broke whilst making this YouTube video) listed on Ebay as spares or repair. The item has received two bids already and has four days of the listing auction left. It will sell. That’s money I wouldn’t have had if I’d have just shoved it at the back of a drawer or thrown it in the bin. The saying of one persons trash is another’s treasure is so true and in addition, you can have a slice of that treasure by making money when you sell broken items.

Why Do People Buy Them?

People will buy your broken things for different reasons. I asked the person who bought our broken TV what they were doing with it. The woman who collected it worked for a man who fixed broken TVs and sold them on. That is the main thing that people do. They’ll have the skills to fix them up and sell them on, making money from them. If you don’t have those skills, get what you can for the item and put it towards a new one should you need to buy a new one. If you don’t need a new one, sell broken items to earn extra cash.

What Are You Waiting For?

Maybe you have a broken lawn mower in the shed? Have you been storing a TV in the spare room that has a cracked screen? It could even be a camera just like me. Take a quick photo, pop it on a selling site and see what happens. It’s a great way to clear out the things you’ve been holding onto because you know full well you won’t ever get round to fixing it. Sell broken items today, earn some money to pop in your rainy day fun and free up the space you were using to store the things. You’ll be surprised what sells and just how much money you can make! Let me know over on Twitter just what you list and how much you make. I’d love to know how you get in.
