Have you heard of Little Bird clothing at Mothercare? As Mothercare closes it’s doors, I have found memories of buying stuff for each of our three children from there. It’s where we got our stroller which we’ve used throughout our parenthood, as well as cute clothing and even gifts for other friends creating offspring. I feel sorry for all the staff who received the news and then had to continue working over Christmas, uncertain of what was going on. Personally, one of the clothing lines I will miss is Little Bird Mothercare.
What Is Little Bird?
If you don’t know about Little Bird clothing, it’s a clothing company designed by Jamie Oliver’s wife! Little Bird clothing is a brand of Mothercare and it takes design and inspiration from retro chic. Think of cutely drawn scenes, bright and bold colours, clothing that makes kids look awesome. You can get clothing from baby sizes right the way up to primary school age.

It’s been reported that some Little Bird Mothercare things will be available in Boots stores. Little Bird social media accounts have remained silent on whether you’ll be able to continue to buy their designs. This Jools Oliver clothing range has a great following. It’s quite expensive and we’ve only ever purchased it in the sales but it retains it’s value if you look after it. I do enjoy buying it though, awesome designs which are Dad approved.

There is a Little Bird by Jools Facebook group with over 10,000 members, where you can put items for sale and find items other people are selling. It’s not always new things from the Little Bird Mothercare range, usually items which have been outgrown. Little Bird by Jools Oliver is quality clothing and one of those items that you know you don’t need to worry about the quality of. There’s no buy cheap, buy twice issue here. It’s sometimes pricey as I’ve said but the quality is good.
eBay Purchases
Whilst the Facebook group is full of people selling what they’ve used in an attempt to claw back some of the price, you can also find items on eBay. You’re more likely to find new items here, as people buy them in the sales and then put them on eBay in order to make a profit. Whilst you might pay a little more on eBay, you can then pop them back on eBay when your children have outgrown them. Even if you sell them at 30% or 40% of what you paid, you’ll make money back for sure! Be sure to click through to eBay via Quidco to save even more!
Alternatives
Whilst Little Bird Mothercare clothing is beautiful, well made and makes your kids look fantastic, there are other companies out there with alternative clothing you might fall in love with. If you look hard some of the supermarket clothing is not only top quality, it’s cute and cuddly for your little ones too. We got a delightful Peter Rabbit outfit for out youngest from Sainsburys for his Thanksgiving service. Of course, we bought it during one of the 25% discount on Tu clothing promotions.

The Little Bird Future
With Mothercare closing, the future of the Little Bird Mothercare brand is uncertain. I doubt that they would let the designs go under due to the popularity. That’s not taking into account and the amount of work Jools Oliver has seemingly put into it. Though, with her husband having closed down business ventures, Jools maybe happily step away. Hopefully though, as she is so involved with the design process, this could be different. It’s a real Jools Oliver clothing business. Hopefully there will be more news once the doors close at Mothercare for a final time. Until then, join that Facebook group and search eBay. Pull out those Little Bird Mothercare items to sell if you could do with a few extra quid. Quality clothes which survive through plenty of rough and tumble play. Little Bird by Jools is a great kids clothing brand and you can make back some of the cash you spend on it.
