We all do it these days. Online shopping has revolutionised the way we shop and in many ways, saved us time and money.
That isn’t the only benefit of the wonder of shopping on the internet though…
Convenience has got to be the biggest perk. No opening hours to adhere to, you can shop when you want, for pretty much anything you want.
With the above said, the range of what you’re looking at is much wider. From an array of suppliers at the touch of a button.
The prices are often cheaper, especially if you find a coupon or a 10% off voucher code. Bonus! It’s also easy to compare prices.
If you head into town to go shopping, you’ll need to pay to get there – public transport of petrol and car park fees (find free street parking just outside the city & walk in!), maybe lunch if you’re out for the day, there are added expenses to take into consideration. At home, you’ve got internet connection and a laptop/computer/phone anyway so there are no real additional extras.
If you’re out shopping you often buy things you don’t really need. When you’re shopping online you’re less compulsive.
Shopping on places like eBay makes it easier to find old or unused items at low prices. Whilst I love charity shops, I don’t want to spend all day traipsing around seeing if they have what I’m after. If I’m in there and see it – brilliant – but ebay is great for second hands goods.
It’s really easy to send gifts direct to someone, instead of buying them, wrapping them and going to the post office with them to pay a lot of money to have them shipped and possibly never get there! (Woah!)
No crowds. I hate crowds!
No irritating charity people pestering you on the high street. I give to charity, I don’t want to support another charity at the moment, even a kids one, I know I have kids. It’s difficult because it’s charity but I do find them overly pushy, to the point I’ll cross the street to avoid them. No annoying sales people either!
Of course, there are disadvantages too, as the high street is full of wonderful shops and indie shops who perhaps aren’t online. Plus you can meet up with friends and perhaps enjoy a walk in the town centre gardens too. Perhaps find a compromise between the two options. Maybe window shopping and important purchases in town and then the rest online? A best of both, as it were.
So there are go, just a few benefits of online shopping that we probably all know, but it’s not a bad thing to have them pointed out to you now and again. So, instead of heading shopping into the city centre tomorrow, why not do a bit of online shopping tonight for the items you’re really looking for and then enjoy some relaxing family time together in the garden instead!
