Where Can You Sell DVDs Online?

When I was at university I bought hundreds of DVDs. It was at a time before Netflix and other well known streaming services. To watch a film you either had to do it at the cinema, on normal TV or on a DVD. Being on a film production course I was a big film buff and back in those days there were cheap music and film shops like Virgin Megastores and Music Zone. You could build a collection pretty rapidly without parting with too much cash. Recently, after my collection has been sat in boxes in the loft, I’ve decided to sell DVDs online and see how much I can make.

Sell On Ebay

The main place I’ve listed my DVDs is on Ebay. The buyer pays the postage and if you can list on maximum £1 fee weekends you won’t pay too much if they sell for a fair amount. I’ve kept a few back that I don’t want to part with and can possibly use when away on trips in the campervan. The rest though, have been listed and are slowly selling. There is an option to automatically relist the item if it doesn’t sell so I’m just waiting for when something sells, packing it up and popping it in the post. One of my items sold for £40 because it was rare and unopened.

The Ebay app lets you scan the bar code and it suggests a price to start your auction at, based on what price other sales have produced. If you have movies to sell, putting them on Ebay is a good first step to sell DVDs online.

Send To Music Magpie

Before I put them on Ebay I scanned them on the Music Magpie app. Music Magpie will give you a set price for each item, but they don’t buy everything. Probably 50% of everything I’ve scanned (you scan the bar codes by using your camera phone) has been accepted. Not everything that has been accepted I’ve sent off. Some of the amounts are as little as 1p. I’d rather list it for free on Ebay and see if it gets picked up. Some of the items you don’t think will have a decent price are still worth scanning. I’ve made about £60 so far on Music Magpie by sending things into them. They arrange and pay for a courier which is an added bonus. They also accept CDs and books.

Facebook Marketplace

One huge benefit of Facebook Marketplace is that most folk are on there. You’ve already got a potential customer based. You also don’t pay fees to sell stuff on there. I haven’t actually sold anything on there as I’m trying to sell them individually but if you look, there are lots of people selling DVDs in bulk. As you’re usually selling them locally you don’t need to post anything as the buyer usually collects. You might not get quite a good a price with bulk sales but you’ll earn some money and free up some space fast.

Sell DVDs Online

Do you have a vast amount of DVDs to sell online? Now is the time to sell them. If they are open and used you’ll probably get a pound or two for each one. If they are unopened you might get more. Rare items are worth lots. You might be better keeping them for another couple of years so they gain value. Whilst it’s a fairly slow process, you can sell DVDs online and people do buy them.
