We’re still self isolating here. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a few treats whilst we’re housebound though. This is why we have been enjoying some of the best wine possible on the evenings once the kids are in bed. Whether it has been whilst doing a bit of extra work or relaxing in front of a film, a glass of the best wine makes your evening!
Look Independently
One of the suggestions I make to you is not not just stick with the regular plonk that you can find in a supermarket. When you start looking at wineries and different types of wine differently, you’ll discover amazing bottles which are a step up from the others. Take Independent Wine for example. Not only do they have a fantastic range, they deliver next day as well via a decent courier. We didn’t have to wait that long at all before our bottles arrived, extremely well wrapped and protected, on our door step.

What Did We Get?
So what wines did we get couriered to us? Well I don’t tend to have a huge preference. With the crazy hot summer weather we’ve been having, a white or rose is probably preferable. However, with the weather changing so dramatically, going from bright sunshine into horrendous thunder storms with downpours, a red is perfect for snuggling in the front room.
The wines we got were the Luis Alegre Rioja Crianza 2017 and the Serbal Pinot Noir 2018. The first bottle is from wine maker Bodegas Luis Alegre and is 14.5% ABV. Only 3,000 bottles were made and its apparently a shiny happy wine for shiny happy people. I have to say, it made my happy. The Pinot Noir is an award winning wine from Argentina. It’s crafted at 1,300 metres above the sea level, which you can tell as there is a distinct freshness about it. At a lower 13% ABV, I think it works that little bit better as you can enjoy the raspberry and chocolate notes rather than noticing the alcohol content. Both bottles were very tasty and enjoyable though.
Which Did We Prefer?
Which one did we prefer though? I have to say that they were both delicious, very drinkable. I think I probably enjoyed the Serbal Pinot Noir just that little bit more. As I say, both very good and worthy of your taste buds. Looking back I think we’d maybe enjoy the Rioja more with a meal.
Wines For Gifts
If you’re looking for a bottle for a Friday night, something that little bit special for an anniversary or are wanting to send someone a gift, these are perfect. As well as fabulous reds there are loads of other bottles available, including white, rose, sparkling and even whiskey. The prices are affordable too which is always nice on the bank balance. Overall, I was really impressed by the entire service and will be looking or order more bottles for over the summer months. If you love a glass of wine, get browsing the website and see what new wines you can discover.
