Tipi
Rather than a standard tent, why not camp in style in a tipi? A tipi will give you head room in the middle, allowing you to stand up. They are often easier to erect than a tent du to less poles. There is usually just one in the middle, a bit like a bell tent. They don’t always look big but can house quite a few of your family members on the inside. There is more room in there than you think.
Back Of The Car
If you have a medium to large sized car and aren’t too tall yourself you might be able to have a decent nights sleep in the back of your car. Remove the parcel shelve, put the back seats down and you can even pop an inflatable mattress in there. Couple this with a sleeping bag and you can drift off protected from the wind and rain. It might not be ideal for more than one or two days but it can be a great way to wake up in incredible places.

Next on our list of tent alternatives is a bivvy bag. This is essentially an insulated sleeping bag that keeps you dry as you sleep on the woodland floor. There is no luxury here but it can be an exciting way to spend the night. You can get bivvy tent which give you a tent-like peak over your head.

Inside the trailer you can imply have a bed space, allowing for a wonderful night of sleep. There is no bathroom however you can have cooking equipment and food storage areas in the back hatch. You might buy one of these already kitted out or design your own to your individual needs.
Glamping Pod
Have you been to camp sites where they also have units you can simply hire and turn up to? Glamping is glamourous camping and many sites have now adding pods for families to enjoy camping, without the hassle of putting up their own tent. They also have insulation, heating, electricity and a bathroom. Imagine the fun of being on a camp site but the ease of simply switching on the kettle when you want to brew up in the morning.

A campervan can get you on the road, adventuring in wonderful places and waking up in stunning locations. There’s nothing quite like opening the door of the campervan and witnessing the sun rise. You’ll have a comfortable sleep and be able to have everything you need to live with you.

Hammock
Find a couple of trees and set up a hammock. If the weather is kind you won’t need any extra protection from the elements. You can simply fall to sleep swaying in the breeze. They are easy to carry, don’t take up much room and extremely lightweight. They also allow you to sleep of the floor, away from the bugs and wildlife of the woodland carpet.
Yurt
The final idea on our list of tent alternatives is a yurt. They were first introduced and are still used in Mongolia but there are many companies in the UK who are now hiring them out on their own sites. Along the same lines of glamping pods, yurts are pre-erected for when you arrive and usually have a high quality double bed for your comfort. They are designed to be cool in summer and retain heat in winter and you usually get a wood burner to help keep you nice and toasty.
