The day of love is just around the corner and you might be thinking about what to do as a couple this Valentines Day. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Read on love birds for some of the best cheap Valentines Day ideas.
Celebrate Early or Late
Who says you need to stick to the calendar and celebrate how much you love each other on February 14th? Look at it as a marketing campaign, one which restaurants and even supermarkets take advantage of and try to sell you stuff you don’t need at a price you probably don’t want to spend. Celebrate a day before or a day after. Maybe even a week before or a week after. If you celebrate after you’re likely to find discounted Valentines Day items!
Cook Together
Instead of paying for a fancy three course meal at £30 or £40 a head, why not cook together and enjoy a candlelight dinner in the comfort of your own home? You can pick your favourite ingredients and enjoy cooking together with some music in the background. Instead of the £80 you might spend by going out, splash £20 on yourselves and make sure you get a tasty pudding!
Go See A Film
I for one think the cinema is expensive but there are ways and means of going to see a film without paying a crazy price. Use something like Meerkat Movies for 2 for 1 for a cheaper visit. If there’s a movie you want to see in the Kids Club, it’s usually around £2.50 a ticket! Keep an eye out for cheap cinema ticket offers on the side of sweet bags too!
Stream A Movie
If you can’t be bothered with going to the cinema, stream a movie instead! There’s films on BBC iPlayer and Channel 5s catch up service too. See what there is and give one a go. Alternatively check out the charity shops for cheap DVDs. Our local one has amazing, often unopened films, for 99p each! You can always re-donate it after you’ve watched!
Walk & Talk
One of our cheap Valentines Day ideas which fills your lungs with fresh air and gets your legs moving is going for a walk. Whether in the local park, through the city or in the countryside, you can enjoy spending time together, hand in hand, discussing the world and putting it to rights. Maybe take a flask of coffee or some sandwiches and find a bench with a view to watch the world go by.
Do Something Different
Sign up for a course together. Learn a new language together. Try a sushi making workshop together. Give life drawing a bash together. Whatever you fancy doing, Valentines Day could be the reason. These things are experiences and if you cut out the flowers, chocolates and cards, Valentines Day experiences can be more affordable than you think.
