Boost Your Skills Alongside Your 9-5

This is a paid collaboration.

We’ve all been faced with tough times lately. Businesses have closed, jobs have been lost, people have slipped through the support net provided by the government. Whilst we’re all holding onto the jobs that we do have, there is nothing stopping you from bettering your skills alongside your regular work. There are ways to utilise your free time to make your skill set better and make yourself more desirable to future employers. Let’s take a look at exactly what you could do and what courses you could put yourself through.

Learn In Your Spare Time

When was the last time you used your evenings to help your future? Rather than sitting in front of the television watching the latest box set, you could be studying and equipping yourself with knowledge to take yourself further. Whether you want to take courses which will help you gain a possible promotion in the role you are currently in, or after losing your job you want to retrain, there are lots of courses out there. From construction industry to Microsoft certification, find the place you want to work in and go for it. There is a wonderful company called the Distance Learning Centre, through which you can take courses and gain qualifications.

Catch Up On Missed Qualifications

Did you find yourself struggling in school? Or find it hard to sit exams when you were younger? Maybe you dropped out after GCSEs and went straight into work, without gaining any A Levels? If you want to head back and grab those qualifications that you feel you missed out on, you can do. There are GCSE courses in Mathematics and Law all the way through to Psychology and Sociology. A Levels on offer include Business, Economics, Biology and Spanish. There are also IGCSEs and AS/A2 courses available and all these could be a step towards the career you want.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Courses

Maybe you’ve seen the benefit of mental health and wellbeing courses this year and would love to get into that area of things as a career? These courses will lead you to an accredited certificate issued by a UK national awarding body. There are different levels of courses, with different lengths of self study required. These start at under £200 and could be the start you need into the world of wellbeing.

A New Start, A New You

Now is the time to put yourself first and further the career you could have. By equipping yourself with qualifications by pushing yourself through courses you better your chances of working your way up the ladder. You also give yourself a leg up on the competition and that new career could be closer than you think. Maybe you always wanted to work in education? There are even jobs out there now which maybe we’re even around when you are selecting your career. With the likes of Adobe certified and social media courses, you could step into a new role that you never dreamed of before. Go get you dreams!
