Easter Sunday 2023 & How To Maximise Your Time Off

We all have things that we get up to during the Easter holidays. For many, we use the school vacation as a time to get away as a family. For others, we find ourselves working and squeezing in time with loved ones where we can. In this post, we’re going to have a look at when exactly Easter Sunday 2023 is and how you can maximise your time off work.

When Is Easter Sunday 2023?

Firstly, we need to figure out what date Easter Sunday 2023 falls on. Unlike Christmas which is on the same date of the year every year, Easter Sunday moves around. In 2022 it was on April 17th. In 2021 it was on April 4th. The date changes each year because it is based on the lunar cycle. Easter Sunday 2023 will be on April 9th.

Easter also brings with it two bank holidays. Good Friday is on April 7th and Easter Monday is on April 10th. Knowing the dates of Easter Sunday 2023 and the surrounding bank holidays can help us to plan.

How To Make The Most Of Your Time Off Work

Whilst a lot of people will enjoy a four-day Easter weekend because of the two bank holidays, there are ways to use your annual leave to enjoy a longer time off work.

If you book four days off work you can actually enjoy 10 days of holidays! Simply book Monday 3rd until Thursday 6th April off work and you’ll be off work from Saturday 1st, returning on Tuesday 11th.

You could do this with the second week, booking Tuesday 11th until Friday 14th off work, which will give you 10 days off from 7th April, returning on Monday 17th.

Book all of those eight days off and you’ll actually enjoy 16 days off work. That’s more than half a month! You’re doubling your days by booking eight days of holiday and getting 16 consecutive days off work!

Of course, this doesn’t work for everyone due to individual work patterns and shifts. However, if you are able to book some of this leave around Easter Sunday 2023, you can enjoy a number of days off work to relax and spend time with your family.

Planning For Easter All Year Round

Whilst planning our annual leave, we should also plan for these annual events. We know that Easter will be here every year. Even though the date changes, it is around a similar time of year in March or April.

If you spend money on Easter eggs and perhaps getting the family together for a meal, you might not have that extra cash as Easter approaches. Similarly, if you go away for a holiday during the Easter school holidays, you might not be able to find the money to pay for it as one lump sum.

By figuring out how much you need for Easter, you can set up a dedicated savings account and pay into it regularly. These bite-sized chunks are much more manageable than finding a lump sum. If you usually spend £200 divide it by 12 to get a monthly amount you’d need to put aside. That would be less than £17 a month. Weekly amounts make it seem even easier at £3.85 per week. Find a way to save for annual events throughout the year, so you know the finances are sorted and you can enjoy yourself without the money worries.
