Let’s look at Bank Holidays 2023 and see how you can maximise your time off! How far do you plan ahead? If you work within a company, you might have found yourself unable to get the days off that you want because you’ve left it too long to request your holiday. When you plan ahead and organise your time, you can get those holiday requests in much sooner.

UK Bank Holidays 2023
The list of Bank Holidays 2023 goes like this:
- New Year’s Day (substitute day) – Monday 2nd January 2023
- Good Friday – Friday 7th April 2023
- Easter Monday – Monday 10th April 2023
- Early May Bank Holiday – Monday 1st May 2023
- Coronation of King Charles III – Monday 8th May 2023
- Spring Bank Holiday – Monday 29th May 2023
- Summer Bank Holiday – Monday 28th August 2023
- Christmas Day – Monday 25th December 2023
- Boxing Day – Tuesday 26th December 2023
Substitute Days
You’ll notice that in the list of Bank Holidays 2023, New Year’s Day is noted as a substitute day. This is because the Bank Holiday does not tally up with the actual date of 1st January which is a Sunday. This means the Bank Holiday rolls on to the Monday instead. New Year’s Day is the only substitute Bank Holiday in 2023.

Maximise Your Time Off
Making the most of your time of is so important when we spend a lot of our year working. We might take the odd day off here and there but when you mix your holiday bookings with Bank Holidays 2023 you can enjoy long periods of time off, without dipping into your holiday allocation so much.
Book four days off before and four days off after the Easter weekend and you’ll be able to enjoy 16 days off work! That’s by simply using eight days of your holiday allocation. You won’t be in work for over half of April! That sounds amazing! Use a similar tactic with the Bank Holidays 2023 that fall in May and you can enjoy nine days off work by only using four of your holiday days. Simply book the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off after the Bank Holiday! This works with the Summer Bank Holiday too.
With the addition of a Bank Holiday Monday for the coronation of King Charles III, you could also take the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off after the Early May Bank Holiday and enjoy ten days off by only booking four days of holiday.
If you love spending time with the family during the Christmas season, turn three days of holiday into ten days off! Simply take the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off after Christmas Day and Boxing Day. You’ll then be of work from Saturday 23rd December, returning to work on Tuesday 2nd January 2024! The Monday is New Year’s Day and so is a Bank Holiday. The first of 2024!
