How Much Can A Machine Learn?

This is a paid collaboration.

I’ve been around a while now and I’ve seen a lot of changes in my life. I remember having to drag the internet cable across the landing from the phone socket in the bedroom to the computer room and then waiting for twenty minutes whilst the dial tone went up and down like a roller coaster. I used to work in a factory as well and have seen the change in machines. Machines are starting to learn a lot more and as the years pass by they’re learning a lot more. Artificial intelligence is on the rise and it can help benefit us.

Money

You can now sign up to third party apps to help you save money when you spend money. The AI within the app learns about your purchasing and can send you notifications about your habits and where you could be saving more. It’s clever, but some people don’t like the idea of a third party having information about their bank account and money. It’s perfectly safe though and it’s all about having things in place that help and work for you. These apps are well worth a look.

Running A Business

When you’re running a business, as many helping hands as possible is a positive. This is where AI can come in extremely useful. Artificial intelligence is massive in the world of the automotive industry but similarly it could help smaller businesses with printing and packaging. Take a look at Industrial Vision Systems who can implement some amazing artificial intelligence for you.

Photography

There has been a big thing about AI in the world of photography recently. People are saying that it will change the way we edit our photography as we can literally just hit a button and a machine will create the best version of our image. Whatever it deems the best. This is both a gift and a curse. Great if you aren’t good as editing, but I suppose it also removes ‘photo editing’ as a talent. This is fairly new and being a photographer, I’m interested to see how it will develop.

Music

I stream a lot of my music. I have a Spotify subscription which for me, is worth the money. I notice more and more than the streaming apps know more about what I like and suggest other things for me to listen to. The machine learning here is helping my user experience, which is key to it’s existence really. It has to benefit me at the user. I think other streaming services such as Netflix will also work this way.

There are loads of ways that artificial intelligence can help us in not only our everyday lives but the world of business. We might want to turn a blind eye to machines and some folk might think that robots learning things can become a little bit scary. However, if we’d never moved out through the ages such as the stone and the iron, we wouldn’t be where we are now. We must enjoy and advance with what we create.
