You have probably heard of Canva. The company advertise online, has run TV adverts and had 75 million active users back in 2021. It’s a great way to create design work if you don’t have graphic design skills to use other software such as Adobe. They also have a huge array of elements, photographs, videos and much more to help with your digital marketing side of business. It’s great for hobbyists as well. Sometimes we sign up for things and then realise we don’t want to use them anymore. If this is the case for Canva, how do you go about stopping your subscription? Let’s have a look at how to cancel Canva subscription.
What Is Canva?
As touched upon, Canva allows you to create content for websites, social media and more. The company describes its service as a free-to-use online graphic design tool. Of course, whilst creating posters and resizing images for Instagram might be a great idea, they do have to make money! This is where you can subscribe to Canva and pay for extras. This includes more fonts, elements, images, backgrounds and lots of extras.
The cost of a Canva Pro subscription to one person is £99.99 a year. For companies who want teams to be able to use the platform, you’re looking at £260 for 12 months for Canva Teams, with access for up to five people.
From time to time, especially if you are coming up to your renewal of Canva, you might be struggling with finances. This is when you might decide to cancel Canva subscription.

How To Cancel Canva Subscription
It’s pretty simple to cancel your Canva subscription. If that £100 a year is simply too much for you right now, all you need to do is head to your account settings. Then select billing & plans and on your current plan, select more actions. This is where you can then click request cancellation.
This can also be done on the app, both Apple and Android devices.
You will still have access to Canva Pro until the end of your annual subscription but your plan will not auto-renew and no money will leave your bank account. Once your current billing period ends your Canva account will revert to a free plan.
What Happens To Your Designs?
You might be worried that when you cancel Canva subscription you’ll lose access to all of your designs and work you have put your creative heart and soul into over the previous months. Well, these do not disappear. Your existing designs and Brand Kits will remain, waiting for you to upgrade to Canva Pro or Canva Teams again. Once you have an active subscription, you will be able to access them once more.
Be sure to reactivate your subscription using the same email address and log in. If you start a new subscription with new login details you will not have access to those designs on your previous account.
Pause Your Subscription Instead
Did you know that you can pause your Canva subscription? If you are on an annual plan, within two months of renewal, you can pause. When you go to the billing & plans section of account settings, click cancel subscription, continue cancellation and then select I want to pause my subscription. Click continue cancellation and then select pause for 3 months to confirm pausing of the account.
Your pause will start at the end of your current billing period. After the 3 months your plan will automatically restart. Don’t worry, you’ll get reminders via email before this happens.
Switch To Free Version
For some, switching to the free version and not having this £100+ a year outlay will be enough. You’ll still have access to the drag-and-drop platform which will allow you to create incredible designs. There are 250,000+ free templates, along with 100+ different types of designs such as presentations, letters and social media posts. You won’t have access to previous designs and you will notice that you don’t have access to certain fonts, for example. When looking for that perfect font, you will have a limited amount to choose from when using a free plan. If you can work within these limitations, Canva Free can still be a great platform. In fact, it’s a great platform to learn on, before you decide to take the plunge and pay for the Canva Pro or Canva Teams subscription.

Final Thoughts
I think Canva is a great tool for those running their own business, providing virtual assistant services or even creating digital downloads. There are so many things that we pay for when running a business and even as a hobby, the costs can quickly mount up. If you need to cancel Canva subscription, now you know how to. Happy creating!
