We post a lot of stuff. Relying on companies is important, as we send all sorts of things through the postal system. With millions upon millions of items going through the same system though, things are bound to go wrong. We may pay for a service and expect it to work out for the best, however when it doesn’t, we are entitled to complain and claim for lost or damaged items and more. Let’s have a look at how to contact and claim Royal Mail compensation.

Lost Or Damaged
If you have sent a letter or a parcel through the Royal Mail system and it hasn’t reached it’s destination, or has perhaps got there in a condition it wasn’t sent in, you can claim Royal Mail compensation. In order to do this you need to head to the Royal Mail website and click into the Claims Centre. From there you will see a category all about Lost or Damaged items. You will need to select how you paid for the item to be sent, which will then direct you to a form you can fill out. These different options include paying by stamps, online postage, from a business account or at a Post Office.
Delayed Items
Of course there are some items that you want to get to the recipient in a timely manner. This might be when you use a service such as Special Delivery. If your item does not arrive on time, you will be entitled to compensation. You’ll be able to claim Royal Mail fees back by submitting a form via the website.

How To Contact Evri If Things Go Wrong
Damaged Property
Sometimes you might be in the position where you want to submit a claim for damaged property. This could be for any number of reasons. Maybe a van drove into your wall or a postman tripped and damaged your car. You can open a claim on the Royal Mail website. Once we had to claim for a damaged gate, which we never got anywhere with because the post man said he didn’t damage it. Even with the parcel at our back door, that was not enough evidence. CCTV is a huge asset and if you have this you can add further evidence for an existing claim via the website at a later date.
Claiming For No Signature
Knowing who the item has been received by is often necessary. This could be for important documentation and paperwork that you need to know was handed to the right person. Since May 1st 2022, signatures are back and if you pay for delivery with signature and it isn’t signed for, you can claim Royal Mail compensation. Again, this can be done via the claims centre online.

Hopefully all your sending and receiving of letters via Royal Mail will go smoothly. However it is always worth knowing how to get in contact with the company should something go wrong. We’d all rather have the service we pay for go swimmingly than have to claim Royal Mail compensation, however when needs must, having access to how to do this is important. Not only do you deserve it because of the poor service received, the company will also learn from these mishaps and put things in place to stop them happening again.
