There is perhaps nothing more relaxing than sitting down and enjoy working your way through one of the latest and greatest new game releases. They can be so expensive though! Once you’ve bought the console, you then have to pay for the game. Or if you have a tab, so many of the games come with a price tag or in app fees. Surely there much be a way to save money on gaming? One of the best ways to save money on gaming is to filter. When you are in the app store on your tablet, you can search by games which are free. That helps you keep the cost right down and only explore the games that don’t cost a penny to play. Keep an eye out for games which are free for a limited amount of time as well. For example, some of the Peppa Pig ones on Android were free to download for a week, before going back up to £3.99 each. I grabbed them and downloaded them to my kids tablets when they were free. Perfect for everyone!

Buy Second Hand

If you have a console, shop second hand. So many people buy a game on the day it is released, play it for a few days without stopping, so they complete it and then sell it. Have a look on Facebook Marketplace or head to shops like CEX where they sell second hand games. Some of the games are are little at 50p each! You could even upgrade your console by buying a second hand one. Once you’ve finished with your games, you can even trade them in to earn some cash for your next game. It’s a great way to keep them off the shelf gathering dust and get you your next game quicker.

If you have a laptop or desktop computer, you can play decent games online, for free! You’ll find some amazing games, from retro classics to arcade favourites. You’ll even come across characters and brands that you know and love from today. The likes of Star Wars, Marvel and Adventure Time can be discovered and the games are fun for the fans.

One of my favourite games on the site has got to be Tetra Blocks. I’m a big fan of Tetris and remember playing it on my Gameboy. This twist on a classic is great for a lunch break or commute, as you fit together all the blocks and make rows disappear. All with some neon lights and plenty of fun!
