Whatever artist, album or individual song pops into your head, you can type it in and be listening to it instantly. Whether you love music through you headphones on your commute to work or singing along to a soundtrack whilst you cook, streaming sites offer us the music we want, when we want it. Many of us sign up without even thinking about the free option available. Whilst adverts aren’t ideal, if you only use your music streaming now and again, the free version is probably ideal. You’ll get adverts every 30 minutes which then give you the next 30 minutes of music uninterrupted.
That’s probably enough to keep you going for a 4-5k run. You won’t be able to select individual songs on Spotify Free when using your phone, however you will on your computer. You can’t download music to listen to offline, but you can download podcasts.
You’ll also be limited to just 6 skips an hour. If you like a wide range of music or are happy to use the ‘radio’ feature of Spotify where you select a genre or band and it gives you different music based on that, this could be a great way to stay entertained, without spending any cash!

The cost of Spotify recently went up. For a Spotify Premium subscription you’ll pay £9.99 a month. When you consider the vast amount of streaming services, including TV and film, that you might sign up for, do you really want to be sending yet another £10 a month on something? This is where you need to start looking at Spotify Premium deals and how you can save money.
If there are two of you, you can get Spotify Premium Duo for £13.99. So that’s access for two people, working out at £7 each. Already we’ve saved £3 a month! The only condition here is that you must live at the same address. Ideal for married couples or those cohabiting or living with friends. You could risk it with a friend who lives elsewhere, but if they find out your access could be revoked.
If you have a family who love relaxing to music, the Spotify Premium Family package could be ideal for you. This is one of the Spotify Premium deals that saved you the most per person. You can have up to six people using it, for £16.99 a month. That works out at less than £2.85 per person per month. That’s cheaper than a cappuccino! Again, you must all live at the same address.
Students get a good deal with Spotify Premium Student. You get the same features as a Spotify Premium individual account, but for £5.99 a month. It can be tempting to try and sign up for this even though you’re not, but you’ll have to prove you’re a student when you sing up.

If you’re a new user, you can get your first month for free, regardless of which one you sign up for. If you want to cancel after that month, you can do and you’ll simply have has a month’s access to ad-free music streaming. There are also regular discounts sent out to customers. One of the best is three months for the price of one.
Personally, I use Spotify free and then occasionally when they send these Spotify Premium deals during summer or Christmas, I use them as a one off before reverting back to the free version. This gives us whatever music we like in the garden for BBQs and access to those Christmas classics during the festive season.

We so often sign up for things that we don’t realise we already get with something else. Some mobile phone contracts come with Spotify Premium deals included. There are often promotions with other companies which give you access. One of these was with Currys PC World where you got 6 months of free access when you bought a qualifying product. The cheapest of these products was about £1, so it was an absolute bargain!
As much as I don’t think gift vouchers are a good idea because they usually sit at the back of a drawer until they expire, or they become worthless if a company goes bust, Spotify Premium deals via vouchers can be quit good. Spotify vouchers can be found at shops, supermarket tills and online. You can often get 12 months of access to Spotify Premium for a better price than paying a monthly rolling contract. It might work out at two or three months for free. If you’re going to activate it straight away, it’s worth it!
Look For Alternatives
Spotify isn’t the only music streaming service available. It’s worth trying out some others, some alternatives. Even if you end up coming back to Spotify, you could play the free trial game and get a few months of ad-free music for nothing. Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube Music, Tidal, Soundcloud, the list goes on. All of these offer a free trial. Just make sure you know how long your free access lasts for (some of them are three months!) so you can cancel in order to avoid paying.
