The Benefits of After School Clubs for Children

After school clubs are an extension to the school day. They give working parents time to get back from work and collect their children. Otherwise, without them in place, many would need to arrange for alternative childcare which isn’t always available. The best thing about them is that they are on school site which means that there’s no need for them to be collected by a childminder or to make their own way, providing a sense of relief. They are offered by most, if not all schools and are run by teachers that they are probably already familiar with. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of after school clubs, keep reading.

This post was put together with the help of a children’s holiday camp in London.

Educational Activities

As the clubs are led by teachers, children can receive help with their homework. Many are hobby or sport related so they will also have the chance to learn new skills. Younger children will benefit from things like educational messy play classes.

Safety

Following on from the point made earlier regarding safety and peace of mind, schools are OFSTED regulated. All teaching staff are qualified and have been background checked so you can rest assured that your child will be safe.

Pricing

Childcare can be expensive, especially when you work full-time and regularly need support. The fees for after school clubs are usually quite affordable. Some even offer discounts for siblings.

Longer Hours

The only potential downside is that it makes for a longer school day, meaning that children may be a little exhausted by the time they get home having been at school for almost 9 hours. However, it can be a fun experience too as they have time at the end to socialise with other children and play games so it’s more of an additional break time.
