With more people than ever opting for an alcohol free lifestyle, how can you enjoy a night at the pub without sinking soft drinks or supping on tap water? Maybe you hate mocktails and love the taste of beer, just don’t want the booze in it? Let’s take a look at the best alcohol free beer.

Why No Alcohol?
There are many reasons why people chose to avoid alcohol. It could be for religious reasons, health reasons, personal reasons. Whatever reasons you’re avoiding alcohol, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a beer. Breweries are realising that we don’t all drink and are looking to accommodate that non-alcoholic lifestyle with their offerings. Anything with 0.5% or less can be found in the alcohol free section but there are also 0.0% options available. Check the bottle, it’ll be low or no. Did you know that a ripe banana can have 0.5% alcohol in it? I did a year without beer about seven or eight years ago, just to see if I could do it and I wish there had been as good a range of booze free beers as there are today. I love the taste but since that year off the source, I don’t miss the alcohol.
Do I Drink?
Yes. I enjoy a beer. I used to drink a lot. I’d have many nights out with friends that I can’t remember. I then started to enjoy the taste of it rather than drinking to have a good time. As you grow up, your tastes and decisions mature. Now with a family I want to be able to enjoy a drink whilst also being able to be there for the kids. An alcohol free beer is the perfect option.
Alcohol Free Ale
I’m an ale drinker at heart. One of my favourite ales is Doombar, it goes down an absolute treat! As a Yorkshire boy I love a pint of Sam Smiths and Mary Jane ale from Ilkley Brewery reminds me of festivals. There are a range of different ales now available in alcohol free form. One of the best and most similar to the alcohol version, maybe even better than the alcohol version, is Ghost Ship. Brewdog also brewed up a low alcohol ale called Nanny State, in response to criticism about a high percentage beer it launched. There are big names going down to alcohol free beer route.

Other Options
There are plenty of options available if you’re off the source but want the taste. If we have a look at the Tesco.com alcohol free beer section as an example, we can see booze free versions from Heineken, Becks, San Miguel, Adnams, Erdinger, Shipyard and Bavaria. There are also cider options like Kopparberg, Stowford Press and Strongbow. There’s also a wide range of low and no alcohol wines and even G&Ts! There is also a strong arm brewing in the craft beer market for those wanting alcohol free.
Cashback Offers
One of the best cashback offers I’ve seen recently has been on Shopmium. They’ve had four bottle packs of Peroni Libera 0.0% Alcohol Free lager on offer for £2. Whatever the cost in store (£4.50 in Tesco) you get the difference between that and the £2 offer, in cashback. The offer has appeared a couple of times and I’m happy to have got it. It’s quite a tasty alcohol free beer, even better with cashback!
Get The Drinks In
There’s no shame in avoiding the alcohol or ditching the traditional drinks. The range of alcohol free beer available these days allows you to enjoy a drink, savor the taste and avoid the hangover! Let me know your best recommendations over on Twitter.
