You may have heard me on BBC Radio Lancashire with Graham Liver this morning for Thrifty Thursday. Here are the top money saving tips and deals I talked about.
This week it’s all about getting a head start on Mother’s Day & checking what benefits you are entitled to.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is just 10 days away. There are some great deals available but we need to plan ahead and order in advance to bag them.
Photo Gifts
Snapfish have got some fantastic deals on photo gifts. You can create an 11×8″ hardcover photo book for just £10. Fill it with wonderful photos you can upload directly to the app from your phone. The usual price is almost £30 so it’s a big saving! Use code TVB322 and order by 20/03/2022.
You can get a £10 16×12″ photo canvas, perfect for that beautiful photo of the family you’ve taken. Use code TVC322 by 20/03/2022. They also have a personalised plant pot available for £6.99. Speaking of flowers…
Flowers
M&S have some great flowers available and you get free nominated-day delivery for all flowers & plants. Some top offers include £5 off the 100-stem daffodil bouquet which is now £20. Take a look at the Mum in a Million Rose Plant or a Seasonal Posy Bouquet, both priced at £25.
Use code FBTEN at Bunches.co.uk and you can get Thank You Mum flower and chocolates for £16 (usual price £26). That includes delivery too, however you’ll pay an extra £2 if you want delivery on Mother’s Day itself.
New customers at Bloom & Wild can get 10% off orders by using code 10QUIDCO and 15% cashback if you click through via Quidco.
If you’re shopping instore, Asda have their Carefully Selected Isabella Bouquet for £5. Aldi are affordable at £3.99 for a Best Mum Bouquet and £8.99 for a twin stem Orchid.
Cashback On Gifts
As always, if you are buying something for Mum online, remember to save money by clicking through a cashback site. You can get 10% cashback if you shop at GHD, 10% at The Body Shop and if your Mum loves coffee, up to £12.50 cashback is available if you purchase from Nespresso.
A Free Gift Cheque
Treat your Mum to something more personal and write it on a free to download and print Mother’s Day gift cheque. There are lots of these available online if you search or simply make your own. Fill in the blanks after Dear Mum, this gift cheque entitles you to… Some ideas include doing the washing up for a week, or making her afternoon tea at home. Be creative, get the kids involved and treat Mum this Mother’s Day.
Check Your Benefits
You might think that you aren’t entitled to any benefits. People often don’t claim because they think they earn too much to be able to. There was a case I read this week where a couple took home £40k a year and were still entitled to an element of Universal Credit.
There are benefits calculators online which will give you an induction of what you are missing out on. Take a look at entitledto.co.uk or turn2us.org.uk or just search for benefits calculators. The family that I read about were entitled to an extra £80 a month. It won’t work for everyone, however it’s worth a check, especially with price hikes at the moment.
Free Pint Of Guinness
To celebrate St Patricks Day you can get a voucher to claim a free pint of Guinness at a selection of pubs pubs nationwide. You need to give your phone number so they can text you the code. You can use your code once per venue. Please drink responsibly. All info here.
I hope these Thrifty Thursday top tips save you some cash.
