Video Dating Is The New Normal

AD – this is a paid collaboration.

Restrictions are lifting which is fantastic. The sun has been shining and people are getting out and about. Myself, I went to the shops for the first time in ages and didn’t feel too bad. It felt like it always did, apart from the mask on my face and extra screens of plastic everywhere. We’re getting back to normal. One of the things that is part of our new normal is the dependency on video calling. We’ve been using it for all sorts of things over the last few months. From business calls to keeping in touch with family. We’re burning through bandwidth and we’re even spending time dating online. Video dating is becoming the new normal.

Video Calling Benefits

There are so many benefits of dating online. It is now being used in all areas of dating, not just teenagers on their tablets. Even the world of senior dating is embracing video calling. Firstly, you can run through a list of profiles of people you may or may not match with. You can see their photo and some information about them. They say that first impressions count, right? So this can be a good benchmark about whether you want to pursue someone or not. When deciding to chat to someone over video chat, the first date we can call it, you can easily pull the plug if it gets awkward or you simply don’t get along. That’s not quite as easy in a pub. If you are particularly nervous you could even have some things off screen, a list perhaps, of things you can chat about should conversation start to slow. You might have to connect with a few different people online to find someone you can see potential with, but the whole experience can be quite fun. Once you get into the groove with an online video chat the time can fly by.

From Online To Offline

If things go well, as we get back to normal, why not see if you can take that person you had interest in online, into the real world. Going from online to offline can see daunting however it’s just meeting someone you already know, in the park for a takeaway coffee. You can walk through the fields, look at the flowers, pick that conversation up that you were chatting through online and keep it going offline. You might have started together on a senior dating site, for example, but if there is something between the two of you over a broadband connection, that will likely develop even further in reality. This can be just the beginning and as things develop, you could be going out for meals, enjoying hobbies together and even going to the cinema. Video calls can also make dating easier when you are actually in a relationship. Missing one another when you don’t live together can be hard and just seeing the face of the person you love, along with their voice is wonderful.

The dependence on video chat was and still is hard for a lot of people. However, as it is now part of our everyday life, we can embrace it to make life better. Go grab your laptop, log on and see who you can meet.
