Wedding Planning During Covid-19

It’s the biggest day of your life. The moment when two of you will declare your love for one another in front of your family and friends and promise to be together forever. Your wedding day, the start of your marriage. In this uncertain world, with unknown things going on, we’re perhaps all struggling to keep a sense of normality. How can you do your wedding planning during the Covid-19 pandemic?

Plan What You Want

Whilst we’re stuck indoors, self isolating and in the middle of a lockdown, we can still do plenty of planning. Many companies have stopped trading at the moment and don’t have staff to get back to enquiries. Don’t send emails at the moment. You don’t know when you’ll actually be able to get married. So may events and occasions have been cancelled because of Coronavirus but you can still figure out what you want. We’re talking in terms of style. Maybe you want a marquee wedding rather than a hotel, search for suppliers. Seek out the suits you’d like and the place you’d like to buy your dress from. Make a list of places you want to check out and companies you want to contact now, so when they do start trading again, you can contact them with no hassle. Make some Pinterest boards and spreadsheets with links to equip yourself with what you need to move forward.

Use This Time Together

When was the last time you could spend this amount of time together? Take advantage of it. You can organise your wedding during this time, well, what you want your wedding to be like anyway. Don’t book anything at the moment, even if they have staff manning the phones and replying to emails. You don’t know what businesses will survive this pandemic, many may not be trading afterwards. With that in mind, get as soon as you do book somewhere, be sure you have wedding insurance in place. Even if you don’t yet live together and are isolating in different houses, video call one another and chat through what you want to look for for your big day. Search online together, share ideas, have shared folders to drop content into. Enjoy time together planning (& not planning!) you big day!

Enjoy The Little Things

With that said, it’s nice to enjoy the little thing together during this. Breakfast in bed, lazy days, seeing how the other one works. Movie nights, decorating, cooking together, middle of the day sex. Enjoying the little moments together right now, with all the stress that’s going on in the world can help strengthen your relationship.

Focus On The Future

Whilst so much conversation is about the here and now, and whilst we should be in the moment, enjoying wedding planning is a look towards the future. No one knows how long this will be going on for, but you will have a wedding day at some point down the line. Plan it now. Get your ideas in order and you’ll be able to get things booked quicker once you do have a date. Happy wedding planning!
