The cost of running underfloor heating depends on how you use it. If you use it in short bursts, it has to heat up from cold every time, which will cost more. The type of flooring on top also matters as some is much better at warming up and conducting the heat. There is no hard and firm price but we can provide some estimations of when it comes to how much does underfloor heating cost to run.
If we use a 150w/m² system for estimations and look at a 2m sized kit. To run for an hour it would cost just over 4 pence. For 5 hours it would be around 21p. For 8 hours you’re looking at around about 34p. A larger room using a 10m kit would cost around £1.70 to run for 8 hours.
Being able to program when the underfloor heating comes on and turns off helps you stay in control of your spending. Make it come on just before you get up in a morning, go off when you go to work and then come back on for the evenings. Having your feet on the warm floor can help keep you toasty and you’ll be surprised at how it can heat your room.
