Being stuck at home doesn’t have to be boring. Whilst the weeks seem to repeat themselves and the days merge into one, you can use this time for good. So many of us are struggling financially right now but you can easily save some money by following these tops tips. Let’s see how much money you can save today!
Change Your Bank
Whether you’re happy with your bank or not, how would you like some money to switch to a new one? There are so many switching incentives available, where you could easily earn over £100 for simply changing to a new bank. What could £100 go towards to make life that little bit easier right now? Take a look at some of the top switching payouts and switch banks to earn free money! Be sure to have a look at customer service of the new bank before you swap to them!

Move Your Savings
How much have you got in savings? Whatever you’ve got, the interest rates have plummeted and you’ll be making very little on them. Even if you need easy access to your sayings, you could be earning 1.2% with the top easy access account. If you’re prepared to lock them away for a year you could earn slightly more at 1.6%. If you’re only earning 0.4%, which is the average people are right now, you could be getting three times that whilst still being able to get your hands on your savings whenever you need them. This is an easy way to make your money work harder for you.
Downshift Your Shopping
However you’re doing your shopping, instore whilst maintaining social distancing, or online if you’ve managed to get a delivery slot or click and collect time, you can save cash by simply downshifting brands. Rather than buy a branded cereal, find the supermarkets own version. This is the same across so many ranges of products, from cheese to yogurts to bread. As a family we actually prefer the supermarket’s own toasty loaf to the branded version. It’s about half the price too! Think about items you’re likely wanting to stock up on, like pasta and rice. here’s very little difference between the more expensive branded versions and the more affordable options. 500g of pasta is 500g of pasta, just get the cheapest!

Switch Utility Companies
When was the last time you switched your utility company? You’re likely to be using more electricity and gas if you’re at home 24 hours a day. I know working at home puts an impact on the electricity bill as I have lots of computer equipment powered for most of the day. The washing machine is on more, as is the dishwasher. Maybe your heating is on more often and you’re taking longer showers to pass the time? Lots of folk are baking every day too! Make sure you’re on the best possible gas and electricity price. If that means swapping companies, go through a cashback company to save even more!
Other Ideas
There are plenty of other ways to save money today! Make sure you’re getting the best broadband for the price you’re paying. You might be able to get a better deal as a new customer with a different company. When we switched companies we paid less for fibre than we were doing for standard broadband with our previous company. If you’re not using your vehicle, SORN it and get a refund on the road tax you’ve already paid for. Check your phone contract. If you’re out of contract you’re paying for over the odds. Look at SIM free deals to use with your current phone instead or upgrading for the sake of it. There are so any ways to save money today. Every little helps and even if you save £1, you could turn that into hundreds by investing it! Let me know over on Twitter how much you can save!
