Many of us avoid taking our full holiday allocation every year. How crazy is that? We actively choose to not take time off of work. This could be for many different reasons. Perhaps we feel that we have too much to do work wise and if we take time away from the office we’ll be playing catch up for weeks? The thing is, your allocated vacation time is part of your contract. I want to encourage you to start booking your allocated holiday off of work. If you find yourself struggling to find days to book off, start by taking your wedding anniversary off work.

The Magic Of Anniversaries
Those of us who are married loved our wedding days, right? We organised the whole day, we chose the food and the music playlist. The photographs of said day are on the walls of our house. By taking the anniversary of your wedding off of work you can enjoy a day with your partner. You don’t have to go on holiday or a city break, but you could. Maybe simply go for a meal, go for a coffee, just enjoy some time together.
There are other anniversaries as well! Maybe some of them are happy, others might be sad. The anniversary of the death of a loved one is important. Whilst we never get over the loss and probably remember them every day, having time away from the office on that day can be healing. It can allow you to process.
Enjoy Time Together
In the hustle and bustle of life, we so often can feel like ships passing in the night. We have busy jobs, kids on the go, lots of other places we need to be. By ensuring that you take your wedding anniversary off work together you can catch up. On the recent events in your lives, yes, but also reminisce. Having a chat about everything that is going on, about how your lives have changed, what the plans for the future are, can be so great!

Why You Should Take Your Birthday Off Work
Do Something You Love
When you take your wedding anniversary off work you could try and do something you love. Maybe you have a shared interest of cinema, or the opera, or love going swimming. maybe you can treat yourselves to a spa day together or simply go to your favourite restaurant. Some people return to the venue where they got married and have a meal together. Maybe you could return to the place you proposed or go and find a new place to enjoy something you love. There are loads of possibilities!
Time Out Of The Office
Remember, this is time out of the office as well. How much work will you actually be doing during this day if members of your team find out it’s your anniversary. You’ll have people coming up to your desk all day long. Maybe you’ll be distracted anyway because you’ll be thinking about those memories. Being out of the office not only lets you enjoy time together, it allows you to refocus. Yo can decompress with a long walk or a good meal. Then you’ll be rejuvenated when you return to the office.

Celebrate In Style
Anniversaries are so worth celebrating. We don’t know how many years we have on this planet and celebrating those days is important. Don’t forget to buy a little gift for your partner and enjoy that time together. Take your wedding anniversary off work and celebrate!
